Which website design package is best for your business

So you've decided you need to work with a website designer (me!) for your business but you're not quite sure what level of service you need. In this post I'm going to break down the packages that I offer, what is included in them and who they are best suited for.

When I'm thinking about who each of my packages is best suited for I am using my judgement, which is formed from past experiences working with clients. I'll also list what stage of business these clients were typically at, what type of business they run, what services or products they sell and what their budget was. Do remember that this is just a guide and no two projects are identical. I'm always happy to chat through your options on our enquiry call and even craft a bespoke package to best suit your needs.

So let's dive in!

Starter website

I'll work from my smallest package to my biggest, starting with the starter website package called The Basics. I had simplicity in mind when I named these, so you won't be surprised to know that this is a simple website aimed at businesses just starting out.

This is a one-page website, designed to help you share all of the important information about your business and your service with potential clients in a succinct way. I use a strategic framework to lay out the content in an informative and engaging way. With just a single page to work with, it's important to make the most of every pixel, so I've carefully created sections that allow you to share your service, connect with your audience and encourage the action of booking or getting in touch with you.

With a new business and website, growing your audience and traffic is super important, and a brilliant way to do those things is through a blog. I speak about the benefits of blogging here, but for the purposes of this article, the summary is - search engines love new content and users love helpful content - a blog ticks both of these boxes, which is why there is a blog page included with my starter package.

In summary...

Who's it for?

  • new businesses

  • a business with a simple service range or single product (content creators, copywriters, artists, business/social media managers/virtual assistants)

  • want a quick turnaround (one week)

  • hoping to grow your audience

  • Small budget

The nitty gritty...

  • This package costs £1150 and takes one week.

  • You'll get a copywriting framework to 'fill in the blanks' and build the text for your page.

  • Having 3-5 brand photos would be ideal but we can use stock photos if not

  • If you don't have any branding in place I offer a Style Palette upgrade which will add a week and £250 to the project but will allow us to create a simple style guide of 5 colours and two fonts for your website and other branded materials.

Custom Squarespace Website

This is my most popular package and my signature service. This custom Squarespace website, also known as The Works, is a fully bespoke website designed to complement your branding, connect with your customers and clients and grow your business.

I love working on these full, custom website projects because I can really get to know your business and craft a website that fully represents what you offer. I will use your branding to create a unique design with lots of customised elements to make the site visually engaging and memorable to potential clients. These are things like backgrounds, illustrations and icons, animations and interactive features.

We don't let the visuals distract from the content through because a beautiful website is only half the deal, your website also needs to be smart and strategic so you are connecting with your audience and growing your business. At the beginning of the project, I'll share with you a document that will walk you through writing the copy for your website and we will discuss what images will best complement this and your branding. All of this will leave you with a totally unique website that you are proud to share with everyone!

In summary...

Who is it for?

  • Independent service-based businesses: writers, business coaches, life coaches, virtual assistants, social media managers

  • A business that has branding in place

  • Typically businesses have been around for a minimum of one year when we work on this package but I've also worked with brand new businesses too.

  • Looking to invest in the growth of your business

The nitty gritty...

  • This package costs £1950 and takes around 4-6 weeks

  • You'll get a copy document walking you through writing the text for your site

  • You'll receive a custom tutorial page, with a full bank of videos walking you through maintaining and updating your website

  • It includes up to 10 pages to share everything clients will need to know about your business, your services and getting in touch with you.

  • Having 10-20 brand photos would be ideal but we supplement what you have with stock images if required

Custom Ecommerce Website

If you have an online shop this is the package you will be interested in. Here you get all of the awesome customisations included in The Works alongside an e-commerce set-up.

Sharing what's great about your products is the key to making a sale and growing your business. A combination of branding, copy and images is what's going to connect with customers and make them take that final step of placing an order. Throughout the build, we'll make sure that each of the pages on your site is sharing the benefits and unique selling points of your product, allowing you to connect with the audience and make the sale.

I'll work with you to learn about your product so I can craft a product page that showcases the products in their best light. Think FAQs, the product in use, gift ideas and related products.

The simple Squarespace commerce interface is brilliant if you are not too tech-savvy and I'll make sure you are completely conformable with receiving and fulfilling an order before we hand over the project. (Check out this post to learn more about the Squarespace commerce platform!).

In summary...

  • You'll get a copy document walking you through writing the text for your site

  • You'll receive a custom tutorial page, with a full bank of videos walking you through maintaining and updating your website
