Shipping features of Squarespace Commerce

If you have built your online shop with Squarespace Commerce, it’s important that you are making the most of the platform. This will make your life easier as a shop owner and also enhance the process of shopping with you for your customers.

There are lots of features within the Squarespace commerce platform that can make the shopping and checkout experience for your customers easier and more memorable.

Some of these features can be slightly hidden within the Squarespace platform so today I’m going to run through some of my favourites and hopefully they will help you make the most of your Squarespace online shop.

How to add free shipping over an order value?

This option is a little bit hidden within the discounts area of the commerce menu but it is really simple to add and can be such a compelling feature for customers who love free shipping! I know I’ve been in a situation where I would rather order just one more thing than pay the £5 for shipping (even if it costs me more in the long run…the human brain!).

To add this shipping discount to your website:

1. Head to the Commerce area, then select Discounts.

2. Click the + button to add a new discount.

3. Enter the name of your discount, then:

   1. Set Trigger to Automatic Discount

   2. Set Promotion to Free Shipping

   3. Under Applies To, select Order Over, then enter the value.

   4. Set which shipping options it applies to.

   5. (You can also limit this to be used only once per email address if it’s a special offer)

   6. Select the start and end date, or Never Expires.

   7. Save.

How to add a pick up or collection option to your shop?

This is a brand new feature to the Squarespace platform. It’s something that we could have achieved before using the shipping options, but it was a bit clunky at checkout and wasn’t the most intuitive for your customers going through the check-out process.

This new feautre seprates out the ‘Pickup’ option and allows you to offer multiple collection options to your customers.

Some options you could give customers for collection are:

• A market or fair you attend

• Physical shop location

• Workshop

To add this pick up options to your website:

1. Head to the Commerce area, then select Pickup.

2. Click Add Pick Up Option

3. Enter the name of your pick up option then fill in the information section. I would recommend including the address of the pickup location, along with opening days/hours, how to get there and what the customer needs to bring with them to collect their order.

4. Add any additional pickup options.

5. Test.
